Application Procedures for Continuing Classified Graduate Students to be Admitted to Graduate Certificate Programs
- Furnish the GOPC Director with a copy of your application for admission as a graduate degree candidate. Update your contact information: local address, phone, e-mail. Upon receipt, the GOPC Director will pull up your UH transcript from the computer. If you have completed any post-high school coursework at an institution other than UH Manoa, go to the Graduate Division Admissions Office in Spalding and fill out a transcript request form. Graduate Division to loan us your official transcripts from the other institutions.
- Prepare and submit to the GOPC Director a Statement of Objectives which is tailored to the certificate program. Indicate when you wish to be admitted and the stage of progress toward completing your degree program with expected date of graduation. Include an approval line for your degree advisor’s signature and have that person sign and date your statement.
- Have two letters of recommendation submitted to the GOPC Director from persons who can comment on your academic ability and/or interest in the subject matter of the certificate.
- Once all the above materials are received, they will be reviewed by the certificate program’s steering committee, and a decision will be made about admitting you to the program. If the decision is to admit, a memo from the Graduate Chair of the program will be sent to Graduate Admissions with a copy to you. If the decision is not to admit, the Graduate Chair will send a memo to you with a copy to Graduate Division.
Application materials may be submitted at any time; they do not need to meet the deadlines for students newly applying for admission to classified graduate student status.
