Bachelor's Degree
The undergraduate major in geography includes the study of various aspects of, cultural, human, physical, and regional geography as well as cartography, quantitative methods, and field work. Backgrounds in the natural and social sciences, history, and statistical methods will be found useful to the geography major, the emphasis depending on the student's particular interests.
Geography courses are designed to provide an understanding of the interrelations of components of the natural environment; the ecological problems that result from human activities; the patterns of resources, human use and occupancy of the earth; and geographic approaches to contemporary social issues such as problems of development, population growth and distribution, resource management, urbanization, and spatial organization of societies.

Requirements
Students must complete 37 credit hours, including:
- Required courses: GEOG 101, 101L, 151, 375, 380, and 390
- At least one upper division course in each of the following sub-disciplines:
Human geography
Physical geography
Hawaiian, Asian and Pacific regional geography
Cartography, remote sensing and geographic information systems
- Three additional upper division courses concentrated in one of the four sub-disciplines listed above.
Individual programs are designed in consultation with the undergraduate adviser. Subject to university approval, the undergraduate major requirements are being revised. Students should contact the department for current requirements.

Minor in Geography
Requirements
Students must complete 15 credits of upper division work in geography, which
should include at least one course in three of the four sub-disciplines.
